We had a DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attack on our email services today, preventing some users from accessing our servers for a short time.
Together with our server management and hosting partners we mitigated the attack. There might be more attacks in the coming days, so please check our blog, support page or Twitter page for updates if you can’t access our email services.
Good evening.
it is very annoying.
What solutions can to protect themselves in the future?
We reconfigured our systems a little, so should be fine now. Any external DDoS mitigation solution is not a option for privacy reasons.
I’m curious about the note saying “There might be more attacks in the coming days”. Of course there is always risk of attack, so I’m curious if you’re aware of something more specific? A campaign that has been launched?
Are these the same script kiddies that have been targeting VFEmail as well?

Maybe it’s time to go in production with some form of two-factor authentication to improve protection?
Hold up against the pressure and never give up! The DDoS-ers are attacking us all and the diversity on the ‘net. May the DDoSers themselves be DDoSed.
Ted: Yes, we have published more information about that in a different post.
Scott: I am not sure they are just “script kiddies”.
Riccardo: Almost there.
Incognito: Thanks! 🙂
