In Webmail, you can now select multiple messages by using the Shift key while clicking the messages, instead of having to check each checkbox individually. You can click anywhere in the message list rows (except for the actual links) to select a message.
The messages can then be e.g. moved to a folder by dragging one of the subject strings to the desired folder.
This makes it a lot easier to move or delete many messages at a time!
We have performed a major upgrade of the main Runbox spam filter (SpamAssassin) to the most recent version (3.3.1) and it’s running a fresh spam rule set that’s more aggressive towards spam.
We recommend that you check your spam folders for any misclassified messages during the next few days, and correct your trainable spam filter (if activated on the Filter page) using the “Not spam” link if necessary.
Furthermore, we have implemented a global filter that rejects messages that are virtually guaranteed to be spam (i.e. if the SpamAssassin score is 7 or more). This will significantly decrease the amount of spam that passes through to the user-level spam filters, and decrease the load on practically all levels of the system.
No email will be lost as a consequence of this change — in the very unlikely eventuality that a legitimate message is rejected, the sending server will be notified that the message was believed to be spam so that the sender can try again.

Runbox has switched to a new and more secure payment system to comply with requirements recently introduced by the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS).
With the new system, our customers are transferred to a payment terminal provided by our payment processor BBS Nordic when using a credit card to pay for Runbox services. BBS Nordic operates the banks’ common payment infrastructure in Norway, and is an internationally recognized provider of secure electronic business. The new system therefore increases the security and reliability of credit card transactions when making Runbox purchases.
It is only the credit card terminal and transaction handling that has changed — payments are initiated as before, by selecting the desired products from the Payment Options screen, or from your Account screen.
As a consequence of this upgrade, existing subscriptions with recurring billing activated will unfortunately not automatically renew upon expiration.
If you have had recurring billing activated on your account, please re-activate it by making a manual renewal when the expiration date of your subscription approaches.
You will be notified by email when your subscription is about to expire, and you can always check the status of your subscription or add-on products by logging in to your account and clicking Account from the main menu.
Since the new payment system is hosted by our payment processor, credit card details can only be updated when making a purchase, and not from within Runbox. This regime increases the security level and ensures that your credit card data is kept safe.
You can now view the 5 last login attempts on the Account screen (bottom) on beta.runbox.com, with timestamps, IP addresses and domain names (if available).
The recorded IP addresses are looked up hourly in the background to avoid delays upon logging in. Therefore the domain the IP translates to will not be available immediately after logging in.
After popular request we have implemented a new function: Webmail Templates! This means you can save and reuse templates from the Compose screen. Just click “Save template” in Compose and the template will appear in the new Templates folder at the top of your folder list (just refresh the page if it’s not visible).
The saved templates will remain in your Templates folder unless deleted manually.
Today we have sent out an email to all open runbox accounts and their alternate addresses on file, with a special renewal offer celebrating the new webmail and the 10 year anniversary of runbox as a company. We hope that our users will try our new webmail if they haven’t already, and take the opportunity to create or extend a sub-account, free of charge.
We have added a new storage units to our server park, increasing the storage capacity with almost 8 TB configured as a RAID 5 array with internal redundancy (in case of hard drive failure).
We’ve started moving user data to the new units, which will relieve the other storage units of both data and load. If your account happens to be moved its messages will be inaccessible for a short while (we’re working to improve this routine to avoid service disruption entirely), but the process will make user data access faster for everyone..
This completes the second step of the major hardware upgrade currently underway. In the coming weeks we’ll be moving applications to brand new app servers and finalize RMM 5 for launch.

When we moved to the new hosting center we had pretty strict rules in our new firewall. Some people did not like that we did not allow pings to pop.runbox.com and smtp.runbox.com and by popular demand we have now turned it on again.
By popular request we’ve now doubled the weekly bandwidth quota from 2.5 GB to 5 GB for regular subscription accounts. Hopefully this helps especially the IMAP users that have been having problems, but please let us know if you’re still reaching the quota.
